Natural Artifice: 2011 National Architecture Conference

The 2011 National Architecture conference, 14th-16th of April brought together speakers from five continents and three generations to shed light on how we might find nature in an increasingly artificial world.

If you attended the conference you have the chance to fulfill your annual requirement of 20 CPD points.* Up to 10 informal points can be awarded for attendance over the two days and up to 10 formal points can be awarded by answering questions or submitting a report on the keynote presentations through our CPD submissions page. Questions from participants have been selected by the CPD unit and aligned with the relevant AACA competencies.
 
Note: The submission date for answers has been extended by two weeks to the 30th May.
 
Each keynote presentation is worth 1.5 formal points.
 
How to make a submission:
Before you begin, please download your guide to CPD at the conference, click here.
1. Go to the CPD Submissions page.
2. Login to Continuum. ** Make sure you login to Continuum with the same e-mail you used for conference registration**
3. To view questions for each session and submit answers, click on Submit an Answer. You can also download a PDF of the full question list here.(If you have difficulties viewing the PDF you can view the HTML version here).
4. Click on the title of each session to access the submission box.
5. For each session, you must answer both questions (approx. 200 words). Alternatively, you may choose to submit a report (approx. 400 words) for the whole session.

* The fine print: The Institute will recognise the full 20 points to comply with A+ membership requirements. Some registration boards limit the amount of points they will recognise for consecutive hours. Webcastof National Construction Code 2011 Information Seminars

The webcast, which is based on the 2011 information seminars delivered in all capital cities by the ABCB, provides practitioners with an overview of relevant aspects of the consolidated code and how it will affect their work.

The webcast covers:
  • an introduction to the NCC and implications it will have for practitioners
  • an overview of changes to the BCA, Volumes One and Two
  • the new Plumbing Code of Australia (which represents Volume Three of the NCC Series).

 NATSPEC TECHnotes


NATSPEC have developed handy TECHnotes, which are brief summaries of a broad range of topics that are of interest to anyone working in the built environment. These TECHnotes are now available for download right here in Continuum from our dedicated NATSPEC page.

Webcast of Premises Standards Awareness Seminar 2010
Australian Human Rights Commission

The Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB) and Australian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) are proud to present a webcast on the Disability (Access to Premises - Buildings) Standards (Premises Standards).

The webcast, which is based on the 2010 awareness seminars delivered in all capital cities by the AHRC and ABCB, provides an overview of the ways in which the Premises Standards and corresponding changes to the Building Code of Australia will achieve consistency between building law and the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA).

The webcast covers:

  • the objectives behind the Premises Standards
  • who is responsible for complying with the Premises Standards
  • main features of the Premises Standards, including exceptions and concessions
  • areas of buildings and levels of access required.
