Course outline

How strong is it? What colours does it come in? What’s the lead time? Will the client like it? How much does it cost? These are some of the common questions architects and designers ask when selecting materials. But how often do designers ask: does this harm the environment? Does this harm our health? Can this product help to improve indoor air quality? How can this material reduce our carbon footprint?

In this presentation, Kirsty Máté helps architects and designers increase their awareness of materials that can harm or heal. She also outlines some of the new and exciting materials coming onto the market both nationally and internationally.
